An oasis of calm in the Elbe lowlands
Location of the town
This "oasis of calm" lies in the Elbe lowlands on both banks of the Elbe river amid floodplain forests, 50 km from the capital city of Prague (near the D 11 motorway). At an altitude of 190 metres, Poděbrady ranks among the warmest places in the Czech Republic with the most stable weather.
Healing sources
The traditional healing source is natural carbonated mineral water. This charming spa town became famous mainly for the treatment of heart diseases and the fitting slogan "Poděbrady is good for the heart".
Culture
Poděbrady is inseparably linked with one of the most important figures in Czech history — the Czech king and outstanding diplomat George of Poděbrady. The spa town of Poděbrady has a rich cultural life with a wide range of traditional festival, cultural and sports events.
